Mr. Watters graduated from Ithaca College in 1976 and later from Georgetown University Law Center in 1979. He opened Keith Watters & Associates in 1980, first practicing criminal defense and later personal injury.
His dedication to the community and the legal system is just as extraordinary. Mr. Watters is a Past President of the National Bar Association, the Washington Bar Association, and the Bar Association of the District of Columbia. While in these positions, he represented his members at the White House, the Supreme Court, Congress, and the Department of Justice. He currently serves as President of the Foundation of the Bar Association of the District of Columbia.
In 1997, Mr. Watters led 80 members of the National Bar Association to discuss the rule of law in the emerging democracy of Ghana.
In addition to his leadership in the courtroom and in the legal community, Mr. Watters is also a leader in mentoring the next generation of lawyers. He has a passion for teaching youth about the legal profession and helping them find their future career path.
